Is Microcurrent a good match for my business?

The Salon Source by Salonology. Microcurrent.

There are so many skincare machines, devices and equipment around, the industry is rife with claims of ‘miracle’ skincare treatments.

It can be a total minefield when it comes to choosing the right one for you and your business.

What we do know is we need something effective that gets results and, today we’re talking all things Microcurrent. AKA the non-invasive facelift!

Microcurrent has certainly stood the test of time with it being one of the first types of anti-aging devices in the industry – and for some, it is considered the gold standard in regular facials to incite consistent results.

Microcurrent has been used medically since the 1980s, once it was noticed and approved that it improved medical conditions such as Bells Palsy and Muscle Paralysis, Microcurrent was then adopted as an anti-ageing tool.

The devices work by delivering an electrical current to skin cells and muscles, helping to lift and tighten, using extremely small pulsating currents of electricity. It features both galvanic and faradic microcurrent outputs.

A galvanic type current is defined as a lengthy duration, interrupted, direct current.

A faradic current is defined as a brief and discontinuous kind of direct current.

Essentially, together these currents ‘train’ your facial muscles to appear more lifted, tightened, and firm.

In simple terms, it’s a little like going to the gym. You work your muscles to tone and define areas – it does the same thing in the desired area by applying probes to the area you are treating.

The microcurrent moves between probes creating a ‘circle’ of current – moving through the muscles in the face and retraining them to be stronger and to naturally create a lift.

Microcurrent can be used within your regular facial treatment. The device is two wands which the electrical current runs through. It’s a comfortable treatment but clients may feel a prickly sensation.

You can adjust the output of the Microcurrent and gradually increase as the muscles get stronger. A little like how you increase weights in a gym to keep building more results.

The device itself can cost anywhere from £350 – £1000 plus.

The Microcurrent treatment can take between 15 – 60mins, depending on if you’re including the device within a treatment and what area you are treating. You can see results immediately, with the results peaking on day 3. A course of treatments will see best results.

You can charge from £50 to £180 for a 60min treatment, area dependent of course!

Well, if you are in need of an anti-ageing device, Microcurrent could be for you. With best results being with a course of treatments, it will bring customers back time and time again. You can have it as a stand alone treatment or combine it alongside other facial treatments you already offer.

It’s a relatively inexpensive startup costs.

Keeps clients coming back.

Low discomfort levels.

Slow burning but effective results.

It can be combined with other technologies.
